The Coolest Room in the House

I wanted to do another post and tell everyone about our awesome bedroom.

Our house has a finished attic. The space is about 10' by 30'...very roomy! We've been using it as our master bedroom. Sometime before we have any babies, we'll be moving to a bedroom downstairs. I'll miss sleeping up here!

Our bedding. Hotel Collection from Macy's:

From left to right: wall mounted space heater (the attic can get quite chilly in the winter; wall mount is GREAT so the puppy won't burn his curious little nose), new TV from Santa, wedding picture on canvas (Christmas gift from Aaron's sister and brother-in-law)

Little dressing corner and closet:

It will be more practical to live downstairs when we have a little one. I'll miss the space, but going up and down the stairs several times a night doesn't sound like fun!

Our plans for this room:

- convert space into guest room/office
- add a three quarters bath and additional closet space
- remove the half-wall surrounding the stairs, and replace with a railing/spindles
First blog post!

My friend Krystal (see The Favor of God) has been blogging for some time, and encouraged me to do so, too.

So what am I going to blog about? Krystal suggested the home improvements my husband and I have been working on. We live in an older house that needs some updating. We've been doing small projects for some time now, but we're hoping to complete some big things, like putting in our new kitchen and finishing the basement.

To get started, I'll post before and after pictures of our dining room. We did this a while ago, but I want to share them anyway!

Dining room before:

I painted it red shortly before my husband and I started dating. I wanted something bold and fun. But I grew tired of it. Also note the chandelier. It came with the house, and I wanted something a little more modern.

Dining room after:

And another view:

The beautiful color is Sherwin Williams beach house. We painted our guest room this color too, and it's the happiest tan we've ever seen!

The chandelier is an oil-rubbed bronze finish. We've since replaced several other light fixtures to coordinate.
